Who made the first move? What was the first date?

These two met as any couple does these days...online! Bumble to be specific. Elise was visiting Halifax for by birthday, which didn't go the way I had planned, so was back in my room swiping after a few too many glasses of wine. Chris was trying out the app and just about to give it up as he was accepted to go to school in California in a year, so it didn't make much sense to put too much effort into starting a relationship. Turns out, we both swiped right at the right time! On Bumble, the girl has to message first (female empowerment woo!) and on Chris' side of things, we were running out of time. So, he did what he wasn't used to, and found Elise on Instagram with a few hours to spare. Thinking there was not much to lose, and also seeing that Chris was doing his PhD in Chemistry, Elise thought, well, may as well say hi! So she accepted his request and messaged him on Bumble. They started chatting and conversation flowed so naturally. she started realizing Chris was a really great guy; "Hey, I'm really starting to like our conversations, so I don't want either of us getting hurt here. I have to let you know, I don't live in Halifax " Chris immediately responded..."That's okay! I have a car." It all seemed too good to be true, but they were both so happy talking to each other, there was no harm in meeting up. Elise drove 3 hrs and Chris 1 hr to meet up in Truro one Sunday morning before Christmas . They sat for 4 hours chatting the time away as though it was nothing. They probably would have stayed longer, if Tom Brady wasn't playing in an hour that Chris had to get home to. Elise found out the next day that she was successful in getting her job in Toronto that she had applied for...another hiccup in their plans, but they still wanted to get to know each other. They met again in Halifax on Dec 22 for an evening of pure magic - they felt like they had known each other for years. Everything was just so natural. Elise decided to invite Chris away with her friends to Mt. Tremblant for NYE that year, and Chris was brave enough to say yes! They drove to Mtl together with two other friends and Elise's friends at the end of the trip said "if anything happens to you two, we're keeping Chris." Needless to say, when we got back from that trip, Chris asked the official question of Elise becoming his girlfriend. Elise moved to Toronto a month later so they did distance from Toronto to Halifax for 1 year. A year later, Chris moved to LA for a year of school, making another year of distance, this time from Toronto to LA. Chris moved to Toronto February 2020, forcing them from 2 years of distance to now 2 years of living, working, breathing together in a 1 bedroom condo for 2 years... Now happier than ever with their dog, Nova, they're so excited to tie the knot and continue on with their next adventure!

What is one thing about the other that you can not live without?

Elise of Chris - his consistent drive to want to grow and be a better version of himself today. Through such a mentally challenging two years of Covid and before that two years of navigating academia, his own perseverance pushes me forward as well.

Chris of Elise - her friendship. Elise is my best friend; she's there for support, love, fun, motivation. She is the ultimate friend and supporter.

What drew you to the other person?

Elise of Chris - his brain Chris of Elise - her smile

What are you most excited about for the future together? Both answers from each of you

Elise - buying a house and planting roots! Also as vague as this sounds, just being there for each other. We often talk about how tough the days can be to get through and out of it all, we are so fortunate that no matter what we have each other. So many people can't say that. We will always be there for each other. Chris - to see what we can achieve individually and together.

Why Sherry? What drew you to my work, specifically?

Your ability to bring out a love story through your photos - the way you capture the emotion of the moment. Also your edits - They capture the moment just right.

Megan and Brendan's uptown wedding

Megan and Brendan finally tied the knot after a year of waiting during our lovely covid season.

Located in the heart of uptown Saint John, they said their vows at the beautiful Cornerstone. It was such a laid back day with a very lenient schedule, which I loved!

Brendan’s mother Jan Philips officiated the wedding, which made it even more special. Megan’s bridemaid couldn’t make it as she was hit by the bug but it was still made special with a unique first look. ( See photos)

It was a beautiful day with so much love and laughter and one I will never forget. See their beautiful love story below.

How did you meet? Who made the first move? What was the first date?

Brendan was lab partners with my roommate in university so we briefly met in my apartment when they were working on a project. Then we ran into each other on NYE (when I wobbled into him from having a little too much wine lol). Brendan likes to tell people that I gave him my number and then I somehow texted him but I deny this haha. When we got back to Sackville after the holiday break, Brendan asked me on our first date. We went to see frozen at the vogue theatre in Sackville on January 8th 2014.

Brandy and Kyle's Barn Wedding

Brandy and Kyle’s barn wedding located at Brabant Barn in Knightville New Brunswick was a day filled with so much love and laughter.

I asked Brandy and Kyle a few questions to get to know them better and here is what they had to say.

What is one thing about the other that you can not live without?

Kyle - Brandy has a heart of gold. She is extremely caring and will do anything to brighten up my day. Should I be feeling down, she is quick to comfort me or be there for me to talk to should I need to get something off my mind. She is extremely easy to get along with and always knows what to say to cheer me up.

Brandy - I couldn't live without Kyle's caring nature, patience, and laughter. There isn't a day he hasn't made me smile in this relationship. He's so outgoing and friendly which is such a contrast to myself who's more introverted and quiet but his energy has definitely worn off on me and our relationship is all the more better for it.

What drew you to the other person?

Kyle - I was drawn to Brandy by her determination. I don't think I have ever met someone as hard working as Brandy. Whenever she has a goal, she puts 110% of her energy into achieving it.

Brandy - Kyle just exuded a welcoming vibe from the moment I met him. He is so easy to talk to which made our conversations flow so effortlessly. Also.. I will admit he's 10/10 handsome!

What is home to you?

Kyle - Home for me is being able to spend time with Brandy and our two cats Cleo and Clover. A comforting place where I will be heard and wont feel judged.

Brandy - I can honestly say home is wherever Kyle and I are. We've lived in so many different provinces (together and apart) so to me home is kind of a rotating location as long as Kyle is with me :)

What are you most excited about for the future together?

Kyle - I am most excited about starting a family together with Brandy. I have always wanted to be a father and I am excited at the thought of having Brandy go through the experience with me. She will be an amazing mother to any future children. Brandy - I'm most excited about watching Kyle transition to becoming a dad and supporting our family. He is going to be the most amazing dad and our kids are so lucky already. He has lots of energy, is super athletic, loves adventures, musically talented, the kids will have it all! I'm also super excited to travel more and explore the world with Kyle

Morgan & Brad

Morgan and Brad’s love story is also shared with their beloved pup. We wanted to give a personalized story so headed to the Irving Nature Park in Saint John, New Brunswick for a place they visited often as a family. Read all about their love story below:)

How did you meet? Who made the first move? What was the first date?

We met through mutual friends who hosted a Halloween party and teamed up to play beer pong that night. We ran into each other again the following weekend where we talked a lot throughout the night and before I (Morgan) went home for the night I made sure to go say goodbye to Brad, that’s when he got the courage to ask for my phone number. We texted for a while after that and finally went out on our first date November 30th the last day of Movember for Brad. Both of us were super nervous to start but we settled in very quickly. We started at hopscotch, then Port City Royal and finished the night at the Ale House.

What is one thing about the other that you can not live without?

Morgan: I could not live without Brad's outlook on life. I have always been very fast pace and he has really taught me to slow down and enjoy the little things too. He is very calm and relaxing and his energy and emotions bring out the best in me.

Brad: I could not live without her side of adventure. She has pulled me out of my shell in many ways. I tend to stay in my own steady bubble and do what I already know. Morgan always has new fun ideas and we always have a great time doing them.

What drew you to the other person?

Morgan: I guess initially it was his beer pong athleticism lol and how easy he was to talk to. Even though there were a lot of nerves, it always felt easy to be around him.

Brad:Her energy and how easy the conversation was. Her looks definitely didn't hurt haha

What is home to you?

It's sharing just one couch cushion on a sectional that could easily seat 6-8 people. It's puzzles, game shows, crib, and comfy clothes. Our weekend mornings. Having our coffees, making breakfast and listening to music!

What do you love to do together?

Going for hikes with our dog Jack! We like to take Jack hunting when its in season and love to just go for drives.

What are you most excited about for the future together?

The honeymoon haha just excited for life in general to see what comes. Hopefully build ourselves a little family!

Why Sherry? What drew you to my work, specifically?

You were truly our number one choice and every time I think about having you for our day I get excited all over again. Every photo I have seen, I love so much! I can tell it is your work before even seeing your name. You can do every type of photo that I pictured for our day. I feel like you go above and beyond in getting to know your couples and making them feel as comfortable as possible. Everyone always looks so genuine and happy, I can just picture our photos already!
