Who made the first move? What was the first date?
These two met as any couple does these days...online! Bumble to be specific. Elise was visiting Halifax for by birthday, which didn't go the way I had planned, so was back in my room swiping after a few too many glasses of wine. Chris was trying out the app and just about to give it up as he was accepted to go to school in California in a year, so it didn't make much sense to put too much effort into starting a relationship. Turns out, we both swiped right at the right time! On Bumble, the girl has to message first (female empowerment woo!) and on Chris' side of things, we were running out of time. So, he did what he wasn't used to, and found Elise on Instagram with a few hours to spare. Thinking there was not much to lose, and also seeing that Chris was doing his PhD in Chemistry, Elise thought, well, may as well say hi! So she accepted his request and messaged him on Bumble. They started chatting and conversation flowed so naturally. she started realizing Chris was a really great guy; "Hey, I'm really starting to like our conversations, so I don't want either of us getting hurt here. I have to let you know, I don't live in Halifax " Chris immediately responded..."That's okay! I have a car." It all seemed too good to be true, but they were both so happy talking to each other, there was no harm in meeting up. Elise drove 3 hrs and Chris 1 hr to meet up in Truro one Sunday morning before Christmas . They sat for 4 hours chatting the time away as though it was nothing. They probably would have stayed longer, if Tom Brady wasn't playing in an hour that Chris had to get home to. Elise found out the next day that she was successful in getting her job in Toronto that she had applied for...another hiccup in their plans, but they still wanted to get to know each other. They met again in Halifax on Dec 22 for an evening of pure magic - they felt like they had known each other for years. Everything was just so natural. Elise decided to invite Chris away with her friends to Mt. Tremblant for NYE that year, and Chris was brave enough to say yes! They drove to Mtl together with two other friends and Elise's friends at the end of the trip said "if anything happens to you two, we're keeping Chris." Needless to say, when we got back from that trip, Chris asked the official question of Elise becoming his girlfriend. Elise moved to Toronto a month later so they did distance from Toronto to Halifax for 1 year. A year later, Chris moved to LA for a year of school, making another year of distance, this time from Toronto to LA. Chris moved to Toronto February 2020, forcing them from 2 years of distance to now 2 years of living, working, breathing together in a 1 bedroom condo for 2 years... Now happier than ever with their dog, Nova, they're so excited to tie the knot and continue on with their next adventure!
